The Shizuoka city government will place a smoking ban on Pedestrians.

As reported by the Kyodo News agency, this was in response to a petition, spearheaded by Yuta Ohishi, a first-year middle school student with asthma.

The date that this ban is not clear, nor is the extent to which the ban will apply and what, if any, penalties will be instituted for violation of the the ordinance.
